widely regarded as one of the most critically and commercially successful country albums of the yearAct II: Cowboy Carter‘s snub has been a talking point since the nominations were released overnight.

Musician Shaboozey, who was nominated for New Artist of the Year and whose single A Bar Song (Tipsy) was nominated for Single of the Year, spoke out in support of Beyoncé on X (formerly Twitter).

Beyoncé’s father Mathew Knowles also spoke out about his daughter’s snub, telling TMZ that CMA Awards voters are “showing it still comes down to white and black.”

highlighting her poor experience at the CMA Awards in 2016when her performance with The Chicks was treated with hostility from the crowd, Knowles said: ”There’s more white people in America and unfortunately they don’t vote based on ability and achievements, it’s still sometimes a white and black thing.”

He clarified that he wasn’t calling CMA Awards voters racist, but he was highlighting how her snub from the nominations list “speaks for itself.”
