Geoffrey Hinsliff, best known for starring on Coronation Streethas diedHe was 86, the BBC and ITV reported.
Hinsliff played Don Brennan on the British soap series for a decade from 1987.
He starred opposite actress Lynne Perrie, who played his on-screen wife Ivy Brennan.
The ITV series confirmed the English actor died earlier this week.

The actor’s wife Judith Hinsliff and their two daughters Gabby and Sophie remembered the star as “”restless, curious, adventurous and funny” in a family statement.
Hinsliff’s family said he ”loved nothing better than setting the world to rights around the dinner table. But it was family and home that ultimately mattered to him most.”
Hinsliff’s Coronation Street co-star Helen Worth paid tribute to the actor.
“Geoff was a lovely, quiet man who will be sadly missed by us all,” Worth, who stars as Gail Platt on the soap series, said in a statement.

“His partnership with Lynne Perry (sic) was something rather special and they gave the viewers huge pleasure for many years,” she continued.
Before landing the role of Don Brennan, Hinsliff previously had a minor role on the soap.
Coronation Street is a long-running British soap series set in Manchester, England that kicked off in 1960 and has been running for 60 seasons.
Hinsliff first appeared on the soap in 1977 for an episode as Eric Baile.

His previous work included an Dixon of Dock Green, Crown Court, and an episode in The Professionals along with some other film credits.
Hinsliff’s character was written off Coronation Street in 1997 after the actor starred on the show for a decade in 740 episodes. Brennan was killed in a car crash on the soap.
After leaving the soap, Hinsliff appeared in the early 00s series Doctors and Heartbeat,
Fans took to social media to pay tribute to the English actor.
“RIP Geoff Hinsliff. A truly fine actor, and will forever be remembered for one of soaps great characters, Don Brennan,” one person remembered the late star on X (formerly Twitter).
Another person commended the actor for doing “a great job” as Don Brennan.
