Johnson spent most of his time on set with Zac Efron, who played his on-screen son Troy Bolton.
According to Johnson, Efron was a force to be reckoned with even back in 2006.
“I was fortunate enough that all my scenes were with Zac and they’re usually the scenes where Zac’s having a moment or contemplating life or something like that,” he said.
“I was really impressed with his work ethic. He took to the scenes… forget that it’s a Disney Channel movie, he was a very serious actor.”
Johnson added that Efron “trained like a beast” for the role, which involved a lot of high-energy dance choreography.
“Even back then, we would go work out at the gym together and that guy – he out-trains everybody in the gym.”
