Former Raspberries frontman Eric Carmen has died, his family has confirmed. He was 74.
His wife Amy revealed the Hungry Eyes Singer died in his sleep over the weekend in a message shared to his official website, No cause of death has been given.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” she wrote.

“Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend. It brought him great joy to know that, for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy.”
She added: “Please respect the family’s privacy as we mourn our enormous loss.”

Amy ended her message with the quote “Love is all that matters.. faithful and forever.”
It’s a line from Carmen’s song Love Is All That Matters from his 1977 album, Boats Against the Current.

US-born Carmen was the lead singer of the band the Raspberries before he went solo, producing hit songs such as All By Myselfnd Hungry Eyes.
The singer skyrocketed to fame after his hit song was featured in the movie Dirty Dancing.

When Carmen left the Raspberries in 1975, some of his songs became major hits when other stars sang them as covers.
Celine Dion is well known for covering her hit All By Myself, while Olivia Newton-John covered his song She did it.
After huge success in the 80s, Carmen toured with Ringo Starr and the All Star Band. He also reunited with the Raspberries in 2004 for several performances.
“People used to ask me ‘Why don’t you guys get together and just play one gig?”‘ Carmen once said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly,
“Because it takes the same amount of preparation for one good show as a six-month tour. I never wanted to be the guy to put this band back on a stage and pop everyone’s bubble and have them go home saying ‘Oh, they were ‘That’s good.'”
Carmen is survived by wife Amy and their two children, Kathryn and Clayton.
