Nick Jonas bolts off stage after being targeted by laser pointer


At first, it was just another Jonas Brothers concert; thousands of screaming fans belting out hits including What a Man Gotta Do, SOS, hold on as the brothers ran around, singing and dancing.

But then Nick Jonas Abruptly bolted off the stage, and everything changed.

A representative from Prague’s O2 Arena confirmed that the Jonas Brothers show on Tuesday (Wednesday in Australia) was halted for several minutes after footage of Nick dashing off-stage in the middle of a song started circulating online.

“We can confirm that the Jonas Brothers’ performance had to be interrupted for several minutes due to the use of a prohibited laser pointer by the person,” an O2 Arena Praha spokesperson said in a statement shared with Variety,

“The organizing service responded to this fact. After a few minutes, the band continued their performance.”

Footage of the moment has been circulating online, with Nick seen running from the stage – where his brothers Kevin Jonas and joe jonas are also performing – while making a “time out” signal with his hands.

The rise of The Jonas Brothers: 2009 ’til now

It’s understood he had been targeted by a laser pointer from someone in the crowd, with it flashing in his face.

“That’s actually so scary,” one X (formerly Twitter) user wrote.

”People use lasers when aiming with a sniper so idk why anyone thinks he’s overreacting. Come on it’s his life,” another wrote,

Although snipers rarely use lasers as it alerts their target that they are, in fact, a target, social media users highlighted that because they’re shown to use lasers in film and television shows, there is a genuine perception that lasers are used for that. purpose.

Neither Nick nor the wider Jonas Brothers band have commented publicly on the incident at this stage, though the band is performing the final show of their Five Albums, One Night tour’s European leg in Kraków, Poland on Wednesday night (Thursday in Australia).

The incident comes months later Taylor Swift’s shows in Vienna, Austriawere canceled over a terrorist threat.

“Having our Vienna shows canceled was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows,” Swift wrote on Instagram in August,

Artist safety concerns have also been raised by Adele, Kelsea Ballerini, Harry Styles and Bebe Rexha after a string of incidents where fans had hurled objects onto the stages where they were performing.

In the case of Rexha, a concertgoer threw a mobile phone at her while she was performing in New York Cityleaving her with extreme bruising on her face, particularly her eyes.

That incident in June 2023 sparked outrage among artists and fans alike, with many calling for change in the aftermath.

“Absolutely great show ruined by a fan throwing their phone at (Rexha). Hopefully she is ok after that,” one fan tweeted at the time.

Another said: “This is just disgusting behaviour.”
