‘No longer in a relationship’: Actress ‘splits’ from partner after age-gap romance


Actress Valerie Bertinelli and her writer boyfriend Mike Goodnough have reportedly split.

Bertinelli, 64, who is the ex-wife of late Van Halen rocker Eddie Van Halen, was with Goodnough, who is 10 years her junior, for 10 months.

“They are no longer in a relationship,” a source told people.

But Goodnough cryptically told the publication: “Valerie and I are the only two people with insight into our relationship. Neither of us pays much attention to chatter among people outside of it.”

The actress, known for the sitcom One Day at a Time, previously told People the pair live on different coasts and were doing long distance.

“It’s going to be challenging because it’s long distance but why not? You only live once,” she told the publication.

She was married to financial planner Tom Vitale from 2011 to 2022.

In June, the actress gushed about Goodnough in an emotional Instagram. postwriting: “This guy.”

“So I pretty much started my healing journey in earnest at the end of 2022,” she wrote in part of her post.

In June, after going to a glitzy event with her, the Daytime Emmys, Goodnough reflected on their relationship on Instagram and wrote: ”The celebrity stuff is fun for a minute as a novelty… but it’s just what comes with what Valerie does for a living.”

“It isn’t what matters. At the end of the day, we’re just two people who got to dress up but then skipped the gala and went home and ate pizza together.”
