The announcement comes after fans asked about Barry’s absence on social media.

Triple M has announced several changes following a shakeup at the radio network. Marty Sheargold, 53, will extend his national The Marty Sheargold Show into drive in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. This followed a stint in the breakfast slot which ended in July and moved to afternoons.

“I’m looking forward to returning to the Drive shift for NSW and Queensland listeners in 2025 and giving them the extended version of the show,” Sheargold said in a statement.

The expansion has meant local shows will be axed in 2025 including The Rush Hour in Queensland with Leisel Jones, Liam Flanagan and Ben Dobbin.

Liesel Jones took to Instagram to share the news.

“Well it was fun while it lasted,’ she wrote. “Sad news today that @triplem_rushhour with Leisel Jones, Liam and Dobbo won’t go ahead in 2025.

“I’ve learned a lot working this job and I’ve enjoyed the laughs,” she continued. “Our intention with this show was to always lift your drive home no matter what kind of day you’ve had.

“I hope we were able to bring a smile or laugh to your arvo. We’ll see you round like a rissole. Until next time.”

The Rush Hour in NSW with Gus Worland and Jude Bolton will also be discontinued. Worland had announced his departure earlier this year, citing a desire to focus on his mental health advocacy work.

The Adelaide and Perth The Rush Hour The teams will not be returning in 2025 either.

The remaining The Rush Hour team made up of James Brayshaw and Billy Brownless, is currently being broadcast in Melbourne and Tasmania but will now be heard in South and Western Australia and some regional areas.
