Matildas superstar Sam Kerr has announced she and her fiancée, US footballer Kristie Mewis, are expecting their first child together,
Kerr and Mewis made the special news public with an Instagram post shared with their millions of fans.
“Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025,” they wrote alongside four photos taken inside a photo booth.

In the photos, Mewis and Kerr are seen kissing and celebrating while holding a photo of an ultrasound.
The news comes a year after the pair confirmed they were getting married.
Weeks after the FIFA Women’s World Cup ended in 2023, rumors began swirling that Kerr and Mewis were engaged.
Footage of Mewis posted onto Gotham FC’s official Instagram page showed the footballer sporting what appeared to be a ring on her left hand.
“Omg, is Kristie wearing an engagement ring???” one person wrote.
“Not the ROCK,” another excitedly noted.
On September 25 last year, Kerr posted a collection of pictures to Instagram including one of the couple posing for a mirror selfie, looking loved up as ever.
Fans were quick to hone in on the large rock on Mewis’ left hand, adding fuel to the engagement rumours.
Just weeks later, in November, the couple confirmed they were engaged.

Mewis was the first to confirm their engagement. in an interview with People magazine.
Two weeks later, Kerr shared photos on social media from the moment she proposed, revealing the couple’s secret engagement took place months earlier.
“September 1st, 2023,” Kerr, 30, captioned the photos, followed by a white love heart.
The pair were first romantically linked back in 2021, after the duo faced off against each other at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

Following the American team’s victory against the Matildas, Kerr and Mewis were pictured sharing an embrace on the field,
Three days later, the couple went Instagram official, with the Chelsea FC striker sharing a shot of herself kissing Mewis to her official Instagram page alongside a ”❤️”.
Within moments of sharing the baby news, the sporting power couple’s comments were flooded with messages from loved ones and fans from around the globe.

The Matildas and Chelsea’s women’s side led the congratulations, alongside teammates Mary Fowler and Kyah Simon.
“Ooooft congrats!!” radio host also Brittany Hockley posted beneath the photo alongside hearts.
