Samsung to steal Apple’s AI feature? Here’s what you need to know

Android 15-based One UI 7 update: With its iOS 18.1 launch, Apple has unveiled its notification summary feature, which helps users catch up by summarizing pending notifications. According to a report, Samsung also plans to add a feature similar to its Galaxy devices with the Android 15-based One UI 7 update.

The report highlights that the South Korean smartphone manufacturer is considering adding a notification summary function, which will summarize recent notifications for users. Earlier, Google had introduced a similar feature, where Google Assistant summarizes all the notifications.

However, official confirmation from Samsung is yet to come. The report suggests that the feature will be available on flagship devices, while the entry and mid-range phones might not receive the functionality.

Notably, the feature is currently undergoing testing by beta users of OneUI 7 and is limited to South Korea. In the coming months, Samsung is expected to expand the feature to more users across other parts of the world.

In other related developments, earlier this year, Samsung announced OneUI 7 at its SDC event. Expected to be released in 2025, the OneUI 7 is likely to bring significant changes, including a fresh outlook, Circle to Search functionality, improved animations, and enhanced parental controls, among others.

OneUI 7 is also expected to feature a new stock icon pack and is set to be one of the smoothest and fastest OS releases from Samsung. It may also include customizable lock screen functionality, incorporating AI features. The charging animation is expected to be updated, while anti-theft features are likely to be enhanced.

Based on Android 15, OneUI 7 will be available to a range of devices, including Galaxy Z, S, A, M, and F series of smartphones. Currently, Samsung offers seven years of software updates with flagship devices, five years of updates with mid-level phones, and two years of updates with budget devices.
