‘Surreal’: More than two decades ago, their film topped the box office


Tony Collette is enjoying an on-screen reunion with nicholas hoult 22 years after they played mother and son in the hit 2002 film, About a Boy.

The pair have just reunited on the Clint Eastwood thriller film Juror No.2, which also stars Kiefer Sutherland and Zoey Deutch.

speaking to Entertainment Weekly About their new work, the Australian actress, 52, said it’s “surreal” to be working again with Hoult, now 34.

“It’s amazing to have worked with someone as a kid, and then, suddenly, there they are as a man,” she told the outlet.

She said there is a “maternal feeling” that comes with playing a mother on screen.

“It’s surreal because I feel like I’ve played a lot of mothers, and there is a certain maternal feeling that goes with it,” she said.

She added how she felt so “proud” of him as an actor and said she always knew how “talented” he was and is.

The star sweetly added: “It’s a treat to come back together again.”

Hoult also praised Collette for being “one of the most incredible actresses around”.

Her new comments come after Collette and ex-husband Dave Galafassi announced they were divorcing in 2022 after 19 years of marriage and two children together.

“It is with grace and gratitude that we announce we are divorcing,” the statement read at the time.
