Tech issue leaves singer holding mic in silence at Trump’s inauguration


Carrie Underwood‘s inauguration performance was rocked by a technical issue.

The American country singer walked out on stage inside the US Capitol Rotunda after Donald Trump’s inauguration speech to sing a rendition of America The Beautiful

Underwood stood with her microphone in hand, ready to sing, when the music played out for just a split second before coming to a sudden stop.

The If I Didn’t Love You The singer smiled on as everyone waited for the music to resume.

However, as the silence continued to stretch on, Underwood made a spontaneous decision to continue the performance.

“You know the words, help me out here,” the country singer told the crowd, then jumping straight into the song, proving she’s ever the professional.

The entire crowd then joined in to sing acapella with Underwood, without the help of a pre-recorded backing track.

For Trump’s second inauguration on Monday (Tuesday morning in Australia), Underwood opted for a simple but elegant sleeveless gown.

The former American Idol winner had her long blonde hair out in glamorous waves.

She paired the look with statement diamond drop earrings.

All the celebrities expected to attend Trump’s inauguration

In a statement released last week, Underwood confirmed and spoke about her decision to perform at Trump’s second inauguration ceremony.

”I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said.

Underwood rose to fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005.
